We've migrated to a pre-launch planning site: join us there

This project is taking off, and more people from more places around the globe will only help it take off more powerfully.

We've moved our "planning headquarters" to this site: http://globallycool.ning.com

Please join us there.  Our map of involved cities already has over 10 locations worldwide.  Come on over and add you own region.  We're just getting started, and it's never too late to get involved in this network.

"Did You Know?" Video Explains It All: Why This HUGE Project is EASY Now, with Web 2.0

gaiaguitar.jpg Monday, 25 June 07 - 09:51 AM (GMT +09:00)
By Clay Burell in General
Karl Fisch of the Fischbowl made this video less than a year ago.  It's been viewed surely a million times.  Watch it and then think about what it suggests about how easy it will be to fight global warming in high schools around the world, with this network and this project, using Web 2.0.

Daniel points out that the forums here are easy to overlook.  Notice them in the sidebar on the left.  And add your city and start with us now.  It's been less than a week, and already Seoul is getting active, and Los Angeles is coming on board.

Now you know.

Global warming campaign and concert for Seoul high schools: Forum launched

gaiaguitar.jpg Saturday, 23 June 07 - 10:45 AM (GMT +09:00)
By Clay Burell in General

Seoul students, go to the Seoul planning forum  (on the upper left sidebar) and start adding your ideas to the questions there.

Keep it short, keep it simple, but let it be big and outside the box at the same time.

And invite non-KIS students to this.  This is not a school thing.

I think you need to understand: we don't need physical meetings, or even phone ones, for you to start contributing.

Because right now, in the idea stage, the forums are just fine. We need:

-- your bright ideas.  And actions.

Skype me anytime, though.

"If every household in America replaced just three 60-watt incandescent light bulbs with CFLs, we would reduce as much pollution as if we took 3.5 million cars off the roads."

New: Image Gallery: Put Your Student Band Photos Here

gaiaguitar.jpg Thursday, 21 June 07 - 10:30 PM (GMT +09:00)
By Clay Burell in General

To give you the picture so you can see that it can be done (half the battle of being a teacher is convincing students they have more power than they think they do, and helping them find and express that power) -- I've added pictures from the student-organized "Rock for Charity" student rock concert in Shanghai last year.  They're in the image gallery, but heres an example.  Look at the size of the crowd -- all students from high schools all over the city.  And look at that stage.

So you musicians out there: sign up, and if you're good, we'll add your photos from all participating cities.  And if you have videos, we can talk about adding them too.

Shout for Cooling with Voki: Neo Says, "Leave the Matrix"

Get a Voki now!

Voki is a fun way to creatively spread the word, and dead easy. Go there and make your own advertisement for this campaign. We can post it here and everywhere else. And I know--the last line is silly. I was just goofing around learning the tool, and decided to keep it.
